Goal for the Life Night:
The goal of this Night is to highlight Moses as one of the key figures of the Old Testament and show how he is a foreshadowing of the person of Jesus and ultimately our liberation from slavery to sin.
Life Night at a Glance:
This Night is a great follow up to last week – Part 2 of the ESPN theme! The Night will dig a little deeper into the story of Moses, one of the “mountain peaks” of the Old Testament that we identified. As one of the key figures of the Old Testament, the story of Moses has many parallels to our lives today. It is a story that is still relevant, even though it happened so long ago. Tonight is about capturing that relevance and engaging with the themes of the story that leap out to challenge us still today.
Building on last week’s theme, this Night begins with another humorous parody of SportsCenter that includes an “on-the-couch” time with Moses himself. The video provides a jumping off point for the teaching. The teaching highlights the story of Moses, and focuses in on the relevant connections we can make with the story. The teens will then wrestle with the “gods” in their own lives and the “plagues” that could be imminent if they don’t make the break from their false worship. Finally, the Night will end with a powerful spiritual experience challenging the teens to sacrifice their “false gods” for worship of the one and true God.
