Objective:
The goal of this session is to give the middle school youth the confidence to share their faith with their friends and to teach them that the best way to evangelize their peers is by being a living example of authentic faith.
Overview:
Most Catholics are surrounded everyday by non-believers. We have to assume that the majority of the people our middle school youth are surrounded by at school or in extracurricular activities, are unchurched. Challenging middle school youth to preach the Gospel to those who do not know Christ can be a scary challenge to accept. However, the call from Christ is clear:
Before Pilate, Christ proclaims that he “has come into the world, to bear witness to the truth.” The Christian is not to “be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord.” In situations that require witness to the faith, the Christian must profess it without equivocation, after the example of St. Paul before his judges. We must keep “a clear conscience toward God and toward men” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2471).
