Goal for the Life Night:
This Night is all about prayer and sets the tone for the semester on Prayer. The semester will focus on different types of communication and things that deal with communication. The Night will begin with a fun game utilizing the teenager’s cell phones. The Night will move into an overview of prayer and an explanation of Prayer Temperaments. The teenagers will have an opportunity to learn more about the type of prayer temperament they have depending on their personality type. They will determine their personality type and then be led to a different space where they will experience some prayer time specifically geared to them. Obviously, this will only scratch the surface but will allow the teenagers to experience prayer that they can duplicate outside of the LIFE Night.
Life Night at a Glance:
Since this Night is the first night of a new semester, decorate the stage area of the room with all types of communication devices (i.e. telephones, computer, megaphone, speakers, microphone, etc.). As the teenagers enter, create a large ear out of construction paper around the doorframe as if they were walking into an ear. You can have loud music playing or just the sound of many different ring tones burned onto a CD or recorded. You can draw a large computer screen, large cell phone, large telephone, etc. on construction paper and hang them on the surrounding walls of the LIFE Night area. Get creative and come up with funny communication devices (i.e. smoke signals, two cups with string attached to each other, etc.). These decorations can be used throughout the semester so make sure that they are durable and handled with care. At the end of the evening you will need to have four different areas of prayer for the SEND portion. Create a prayerful atmosphere in each of the rooms by using candles, soft lighting, instrumental music playing, etc.
