On the road to Damascus, Saul was struck blind and he heard the voice of Jesus ask, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts of the Apostles 9:4). After three days of being blind, Paul got up and gave his life to Christ. The story of St. Paul is an amazing transformation. However, God had to go to extremes to get his attention. Paul’s evangelization efforts led him to experience rejection, hardship, opposition, slander, shipwrecks, imprisonment and ultimately martyrdom. Throughout it all, Paul always preached with a spirit of encouragement. The environment and icebreaker break open the idea of how well traveled St. Paul was to spread the message of Jesus Christ.
