Keywords: | | | |

We are ecstatic to announce a new resource in our Life Support box: Life Teen Core Training. Through both written and video resources, we will help you train your core Members whenever they join your team. This will hopefully allow you more time with your teens and less time behind a desk.

In every Life Support box you will receive a new training resource for your core team. This 8-part training series will cover topics including:

  • Core Recruitment
  • Life Nights: Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send
  • Relational Ministry
  • Small Groups
  • Core Spirituality
  • Pastoral Care and Discipline
  • Retreats and Events
  • Conflict Resolution

The sixth resource in our 8-part series covers pastoral care and discipline.this coretraining will be broken up into two parts. The first part will look specifically at the role of pastoral care in ministry. This section will give a brief overview of how pastoral care is related to the seven components of youth ministry as outlined by the united states conference of catholic Bishops. This section will also give a practical “how-to” on setting up a pastoral care plan within the youth ministry program when tragedy or issues arise.

The second part of the coretraining will take a look at one of the very important sub-topics of pastoral care: teen discipline. This section will discuss specific ways to handle a situation with a teen who might require more attention and discipline. This section will also discuss why setting clear rules and guidelines can help the teens learn respect for others as well as themselves.

A core training outline has been provided to help the core team begin to discuss different issues they may face with teens in their ministry as well as plan together the right responses and procedures for helping a teens in crisis or tragedy receive the best care possible.

Whether you have experienced ministering to teens in crisis or not, having a pastoral care plan is essential to any person ministering to youth. Taking the time to read, pray through, and discuss this topic of pastoral care and discipline will help bring clarity and freedom to the core team to help when a teen is at their most vulnerable. Know we continue to lift you up in prayer and are thankful for your continued service to lead teens closer to Christ.
God Bless!
