An Edge Social Night
Edge Night Outline
Goal of this Night
The middle school youth will grow in community and get to know one another in the group. Socials are typically a great way to invite new youth, breakdown cliques and re-energize the community.
About this night
This is a very full and fun Edge Night that will require a lot of organization to pull it off smoothly. In this Edge Night you will experience multiple variations of the popular lunchtime and recess game kickball. The night will begin with prayer, followed by team assignments
Before The Night
Tell all middle school youth to come dressed in clothes they don’t mind getting messy and that are sports appropriate. All youth should wear tennis shoes and a dark colored shirt (no white t-shirts) for this night. Have extra shirts just in case a youth forgets to bring an old one or brings a white shirt instead. If you choose to do the messy and water aspects, you don’t want them to wear white shirts or shorts. Also, you will want to tell the youth to invite their friends who don’t attend Edge to this night. This is a great way to do some evangelization and outreach.
Create some banners that say “Crazy Kickball” around the location where you will want parents to drop off and pick up their youth. Create a drop off table where parents can drop off their middle school youth as well as receive his or her number for the kickball game. As the middle school youth arrive, give them a number starting at 1 and ending with the last middle school youth that arrives. Do not include Core in the numbering; however, have them already placed on teams or in various roles on the field.
The remaining environment happens at each innings. See the supplies to know what you need to have on hand for each inning and be ready to put it in play the second that inning arrives. Assign Core to make these transitions as smooth as possible.
