Lights Out

An Edge Social Night

Edge Night Outline

Goal of this Night

The goal for this Edge Night is to create a fun and welcoming environment to foster relational ministry and community in your ministry.

About this night

Get ready for some great games in the dark. As a part of your Edge ministry, we recommend that you add social nights to help the Core Team and the youth to get to know each other and have some fun. Really enjoy the night and work together as a team. All Core Members are strongly encouraged to enter into the games and be relational with the youth.

As the youth enter the room, make sure that the Core Team is welcoming them in to the Edge Night. The night will begin with a general welcoming and recognition of birthday and then an explanation of the night. Once the flow of the evening is explained, the youth will be dismissed to play glow-in-the-dark games. The night will transition into a dance party that can keep the energy level up. Finish with a concluding prayer.

Before The Night
You are going to need to get glow-in-the-dark bracelets, necklaces, and other fun items. There is also glow-in-the-dark paint you can purchase to paint various items for games for the night (Frisbees, four-square balls, etc.). Look to see if you can find glow-in-the-dark paint that is safe to use on skin.

Select which games you want to play and have the necessary supplies ready to go. You will also want to make sure that the room and game area is set up for safety, as a good portion of the games require the room/space to be dark.

Parental Notice

Tonight was an Edge Social Night. The night was really an opportunity for us to build community and give your youth a chance to fellowship with his/her friends and to meet new friends.

Environment

Decorate for the dark! Using the glow-in-the-dark paint, create posters and signs around the room. The youth may not see them very well at first, but they will. If you are going to be playing games in the room, use glow-in-the-dark tape to show boundaries in the room. You can also use black lights to add some light in the room if needed.

Supplies List

• Lots and lots of neon glowin- the-dark bracelets

• Glow-in-the-dark paint

• Frisbee (white)

• Four square balls

• Black lights

• Other supplies depend on games selected
