Goal for the Life Night:
Confront teens with the reality of social injustice present in our world and, through a very challenging and insightful night, develop an understanding of how the personal choices we make can contribute to social sin or bring about social conversion.
Life Night at a Glance:
In varying and challenging ways, this night will educate about social sin, inform about personal accountability and apathy and empower teens to take personal action and participate in the conversion of society. Wrapped up in reality checks, the night begins with a spoof of “The OC” (which is a popular teen drama on FOX), a brief skit that highlights the selfish “drama” of our lives. The night then transitions through a stark sharing of statistics and realities encountered in our global “village.” During the Proclaim, three things are shared: 1) social sin is defined; 2) our problem of intentional separation is explained; and 3) our goal of intentional community is presented. The night is broken open on a very personal level using the U2 song “One” and reflection with three questions. The teens are then presented with a challenge to make a real impact by accepting personal responsibility and acting on it within the next week.
