Goal for the Life Night:
The goal for this Life Night is to help the teens break open the Life Teen 2009 theme “Heroic Virtue.” This night looks at the theological and cardinal virtues and how they relate to teenagers lives. This night will also give the teens practical ways to use each of the virtues.
Life Night at a Glance:
This night will help the teens understand the theme of Heroic Virtue. Like many Life Nights, this night should begin weeks in advance with prayer and study. Before the night, the Core should spend time reading and reflecting on the virtues and how each is present in their lives. A few resources to aid in this study are: Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture and Back to Virtue by Peter Kreeft.
This night begins with a trivia game based on famous heroes. This will ask the teens to compete against the other classes while testing their knowledge of superheroes. The game will lead into a teaching on virtue, specifically the theological virtues. After the teaching, small groups will break open each of the cardinal virtues are and how they apply to the teens’ everyday lives. The small groups will come back together to share their everyday situations. The night will end by giving teens an opportunity to be prayed over for the grace to live out a specific virtue in their lives.
