Like the rest of the world, when we heard that Pope Benedict would be resigning (okay, really abdicating) his position as pope, we knew we needed to help our teens and middle schoolers understand the importance of this moment in the Church’s history. Young people will be hearing countless messages about the Church in the coming weeks. Some of that information will be accurate, but much of it will likely be opinion and misunderstanding about what is really happening in our Church. We’ve created two new easy resources that you can use to help you share with clarity and truth the transition from Benedict to our next pope, the authority of the Catholic Church, and the unique qualities that have made Pope Benedict an important figure in the Church’s history.
