I’m Running a Marathon to Support Life Teen! Here’s How You Can Help

As many of you know, I will be running my first marathon here in Phoenix on January 15, 2012. For the past 11+ weeks I have been training and will continue to do so for another 7 weeks.

After thinking and praying about it, I have decided to offer up my marathon as an opportunity to raise some money for Life Teen’s Annual Appeal. For those of you unfamiliar with Life Teen, we are an international Catholic ministry who believes that Eucharist-based ministry has the power to transform teens, transform parishes, and transform culture.

So, how will this work? A marathon is 26.2 miles long, and in order to raise some funds for Life Teen, I will be offering up one mile of my race for anyone who is willing to donate $50 to Life Teen. For this opportunity, only 20 spots will be available as God will get mile 1 and mile 26.2, Alissa (my wife) will get mile 2, my unborn son/daughter will get mile 3, the rest of my family will get mile 4, and the Life Teen movement will get mile 5. Miles 6-25 are wide open.

If you are interested in having me offer you and your prayer intentions up during the marathon, please send me a private message on facebook or email me at eporteous@lifeteen.com prior to December 31st. Then you can donate $50 securely online by clicking on this link, or you can send a check made out to Life Teen, Inc. with “Annual Appeal – Eric P. Marathon” written in the memo. While I will not be receiving anything from this, we would like to be able to track the donations. Of course, you can always donate more than $50 if you would like, and you can mail all checks to Life Teen at:

Life Teen, Inc.
2222 S. Dobson Rd. Suite 601
Mesa, AZ 85202

After I receive your message, I will reply back to you letting you know which mile I will be offering up for you. If you have any specific prayer intentions, please let me know. Remember, there are only 20 spots available. Thank you all so much for praying about this opportunity, and may God continue to bless each one of you with His love, joy, and grace.

Peace,
Eric

I'm a very passionate person who likes to make people think, smile, and laugh. I love sports, helping people with their finances, and working out (Honestly . . . I'm huge. Don't be jealous.) But, when it comes right down to it, I'm just an ordinary guy who wants to live an extraordinary life.
