Objective:
This session will challenge the middle school youth to have confidence in the love God has for them and in their ability to live good and holy lives, so they become confident evangelists.
Overview:
The Good News that we are called to preach to all the nations cannot be preached authentically unless we first believe it for ourselves. The Good News we are preaching is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and has risen from the dead. If this fact is true, then we can believe all the promises that God has made to us: that we are good and holy, that we are loved unconditionally and that we will be taken care of always. We must also believe that we are capable of spreading this Good News. When we truly realize the greatness and power of God, it can be easy to start to feel unworthy to serve Him. However, God calls each of us to do great things.
Christ himself declared that he was marked with his Father’s seal. Christians are also marked with a seal: “It is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has commissioned us; he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” This seal of the Holy Spirit marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service forever, as well as the promise of divine protections in the great eschatological trial (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1296).
