Last week over 500 Priests, Youth Ministers, Core Team members, and Musicians traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Catholic Youth Ministry Training Convention. It was truly a blessed time to pray, worship, and laugh together as we celebrated this year’s theme of Radiant Joy.
One of the most meaningful things for me was to see and hear God’s people from all over the world come together and unite in our common prayer together as we celebrated our highest form of prayer, the Mass. One of the most memorable moments for me was at the Monday Liturgy when the whole congregation joined in singing “Here I Am, Lord” by Dan Schutte. It was truly amazing to let the instruments drop out and hear the voices resound with the angels in heaven as we all sang God’s praise after receiving his most holy body and blood in Communion.
Full, active and conscious participation was truly lived out in the singing of the gathered assembly as well as in the silent moments of prayer, which are just as important to the Mass as Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, of Phoenix reminded us in his homily on Sunday evening for the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.
As we almost always do after a conference or convention, we wanted to share the music with you in case you want to use any of it for any of your Liturgies, retreats, or other events. Below you will find the songs listed for each day of the Convention as well as a link to listen and/or download the sheet music to most of the songs that are published.
If you joined us for the convention we are so glad you came and if you did not attend we hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming events or conferences.
