Goal for the Life Night:
The goal of this night is to demonstrate to the teens how websites like “My Space” might begin as harmless “fun” but how they can create an unhealthy, unChristian environment and subculture that is both demeaning and demoralizing. Further, we want to equip the teens with practical insights and suggestions for how they can “put on” the eyes and heart of Christ when online and when immersed in such situations becoming a light to their peers.
Life Night at a Glance:
If you have not heart of it yet, you will…MySpace.com is basically a company that takes all the headaches out of starting your own personal website, making it easy for anyone to recreate themselves in cyberspace. This capability given to teenagers allows for many teenagers to connect with millions of people and represent themselves without any accountability. This night addresses our Catholic calling to spread the love of Christ, even in cyberspace. The night starts with a fun game for all the teens to play and then works into the teaching. After the teaching, the teens will be asked questions in a large group. This discussion will lead into a time of affirmation and then a commitment after the night to inject Christ into everything that they do online (MySpace, email, websites, etc.) so that they will come to know Christ.
