Goal for the Life Night:
The goal for this Life Night is to help the teens understand their role in seeing and treating all human life as God would. This night will focus particularly on family relationships and how we are called to uphold and protect the dignity of those we are closest to. Finally this night will give the teens practical ways to love and forgive those who have hurt them.
Life Night at a Glance:
Most teens understand and agree with the concept of the dignity of human life, but understanding and living it out can be very different things. This Life Night takes the concept of the inherent dignity of ALL people and applies it to familial relationships. For if we learn to honor our family and friends, we will be more likely to bring that attitude to everyone we meet. The night starts off with a video of parents and teens interviewing each other and breaking down some of the communication barriers. The video transitions into a teaching on the fourth, fifth and eighth commandments. The teens will have an opportunity to discuss their family relationship in small groups after the teaching. The Send will end with the teens having a chance to pray and have their feet washed as a symbol of service and forgiveness. Because of the topic, this is a great night to host a simultaneous parent night. There is an outline for a parent night provided on pages 62-63. Be sure to invite the parents well in advance.
