Have you ever asked yourself the question – what was God thinking asking ME to serve in youth ministry? I have asked several people who I consider to be way down the road to holiness and who have been entrusted with being in charge of ministry if they have ever felt worthy for all that God is trusting them with? The unanimous answer has been that you never feel worthy of the trust God has placed in you.
Strategists always tell you to have a plan B. The heart of the matter of it all is that God has no plan B – He is counting on us to to do our part. Just like He counted on the Apostles and Disciples to spread the Good News with no plan B, we are entrusted with God’s mission.
No pressure – just the reality that God knows what He is doing by asking us to reach out to teens. How sad that we doubt and allow ourselves to fall in the trap of losing passion or zeal for fulfilling God’s mission by even taking a moment to wonder if God knows what He’s doing. The better we get at trusting God, the less time we will waste wondering what He was thinking calling us to serve and the more time we can spend Evangelizing teens. The next time you feel like giving up, doing something else or only putting in minimal effort – remember there is no plan B – God is counting on you.
