Goal for the Life Night:
To create an inter-generational experience by organizing and hosting a Senior Ball/Prom for senior citizens that invites all participants to a special night of dressing up, celebration and serving others where all can dance away misconceptions.
Life Night at a Glance:
It’s time to dust off your dancing shoes and don your finest party attire. This social life night is for youth and the aging young at heart. Celebrate the achievement and blessing of aging. Dance away misconceptions and bridge generations. Crown a King and Queen.
The key to this night is warm hospitality and going all out for the senior guests. Before setting a date and time, call your local retirement home, assisted living facility, rehabilitation center and check what date and times will work best – an afternoon event may work best. If possible, assign committees of teens to plan various aspects of the event – i.e. environment, transportation, raffle prizes, pictures, food & beverage, etc.
After a date and time have been set, publicize the prom with fliers that can be stuffed in the bulletin, posted or handed out to individuals. Make sure to send them with invitations to area retirement homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers. If affordable, send personal invitations to all senior parishioners, say over the age of 65. Ask for an RSVP. Make sure to include directions to the church and area of your facility, or to the offsite location. And make sure to invite them to the Life Teen Mass??!!
