Objective:
The middle school youth will come to an understanding that we need to be spiritually poor in order to better follow Jesus.
Overview:
Poverty is a serious problem in our society. Homelessness, unemployment, underemployment, hunger and the lack of access to necessary medical care are problems the poor encounter. As Catholics, we recognize these issues and try to assist our less fortunate brothers and sisters in their struggle for a better life. We donate to charities, give of our time and energy and work to remove the root causes of poverty. Giving to charity and helping others is incredibly important and one of the main tenets of our Catholic faith. When we think of poverty, we think of this type of poverty: physical poverty. It is vital for us as Catholics to address the causes and needs of the poor in our communities.
