Goal for the Life Night:
To help the teens better understand how important it is that we trust God completely, if we are to live according to His design. Highlighting how technological advancements and manipulation affects human life, the overall goal is to present the totality of the Church’s teachings on the dignity and value of the human person specifically in regards to efforts like cloning, genetic manipulation, and stem cell research.
Life Night at a Glance:
This night begins with a game with two volunteers highlighting this theme of “control” which is the primary theme throughout the night. Next is a video spoof or skit of Frankenstein that sets up a small group activity on “creating the perfect teen.” A brief rap that summarizes the small group time will segue into a talk on the moral issues surrounding medical technology. The most important part of the night is a witness by a person who has experienced first-hand the battle over control in his/her own life or family. The night ends with the teens looking at the areas of their lives that they are trying to control, through personal reflection and a communal prayer of abandonment.
