Sticks and Stones: Bullying Dignity of the Human Person

Goal for the Life Night:



The goal for the night is to recognize the various forms of bullying today, as well as a reaffirming of the transcendent dignity of every person. In addition, practical tools must be given to all on how to respond to bullying.

Life Night at a Glance:

In the last several years bullying has become a serious issue in the youth culture. At one time or another, every person has experienced the affects of this attack on the dignity of the person. This Life Night serves as one tool to address this issue and approach it from a Catholic Christian perspective. The Life Night begins with a time of questions that will help the teens see that at some point everyone has been affected by bullying. The questions will transition into a teaching on the transcendent dignity of the human person. A large group discussion on why the teens think bullying is so prevalent in their culture and how they can respond will follow the teaching. The night will close with an opportunity for the teens to pray with one another and seek forgiveness and reconciliation in instances of bullying in the youth group.
