Questions about the people at camp
15. Can chaperones bring their small children to camp?
We are unable to accommodate non-camper children in camper housing. We value families and provided that you have enough chaperones staying with your teens, we would be happy to help you find additional suitable housing in the surrounding area provided that your group leader approves. Additional housing is not included in the camp price. If you intend to bring your families you must let us know in advance.
16. One of our teens/chaperones has food allergies. Can you accomodate these?
We try our best to accommodate food allergies. It is imperative that you inform the camp as far in advance as possible. It is recommended that the person bring supplemental snacks for themselves.
17. Can we bring our priest, deacon, and seminarians to camp?
Absolutely! We welcome and highly encourage it! Priests attend camp for free. All other clergy/seminarians serving as chaperones must pay the full camp price. *We cannot guarantee separate housing for seminarians.
18. What are the roles of people at summer camp?
Group Leader: This is the person organizing the trip and the main group contact throughout the registration process and leading up to your arrival at camp. The group leader must be an adult, age 21 or older, who is actually attending camp with the group.
Adult Chaperone: To attend as an adult chaperone, you must be at least 21 years old. While at camp, the adult chaperones are to participant as any camper would. They will be the role models of openness to God throughout every adventure. Sometimes the adventure may not be comfortable for the adults but their willingness to try it out will give your teens hope for trustworthy and steady relationship. Along with having fun, they will be responsible for the actions and participation of your teens. Throughout the day, they will need to keep the youth on task to the adventure at hand. At night you will be sleeping in the same cabin as the teens, therefore, we expect that you will help us with enforcing the curfew and lights out rule. They will need to be present and attentive during all sessions, because they may be leading a small group afterward. So, when deciding on which adults to bring to camp, please inform them of their responsibilities at camp and make sure they are prepared.
Youth: Participants at summer camp. These include incoming 6th graders through graduating 8th graders for Edge. For Life Teen it includes incoming freshmen through graduating seniors. As you can see incoming freshmen can go to either Edge or Life Teen camp.
Summer Staff: Summer staffers are college students who have applied and have been accepted to serve you and your teens at camp this summer. The Summer Staff will help run the sessions in the evenings, coordinate the daily activities and games, get to know your teens, provide a listening ear and prayerful spirit. The Summer Staff does not fill the role of a chaperone for your group.
