Youth Minister at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Job Description Seeking a self-motivated person of faith who is familiar with the Life Teen program and is interested in beginning such a program in a suburban parish. Desired characteristics: 1. A person of prayer. We cannot pass on what we ourselves have not received. Prayer must be the center. 2. Someone who has the heart of the New Evangelization, with the desire to teach in such a way that we BOTH inform minds and convert hearts. 3. A self-motivated person who can take the torch and
About our Parish / School / Organization
Many people in Fort Wayne have described St. Charles as having the most potential in the diocese. The reason is that we have many resources at our disposal. Our youth have a dedicated space in a large old convent. Also, we have very generous parishioners who provide monetarily for our ministry. Also, our parish is getting younger. We have approximately 2, 200 families and more and more young families are moving into our area because of the neighborhood atmosphere and the strength/Catholic character of our school. So an incoming Youth Minister will find a parish that is very capable of supporting a great vision. Also, the current youth program is all but non-existent. This is not the ideal, however it provides a youth minister the chance to begin from scratch and shoot for the ideal rather than working with an existing system which may be flawed. Fort Wayne is also a great place which is full of Catholic life. We have regular Theology on Taps where the young adult population comes together. Our Diocese also has a program whereby anyone in a ministerial role have the possibility to be sponsored by their parish to study for their Masters Degree in Theology from either the University of Notre Dame or St. Francis University. Our vocations are booming, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is prevalent in almost every parish, and we have a Bishop who clearly understands and is implementing the New Evangelization. It is an exciting time to be in this diocese.
