With this Edge Night, the middle school youth will learn about the greatest evangelist, St. Paul and his letters in the New Testament. St. Paul, born Saul Paul, was born a Roman citizen, but he was Jewish by family and religion. Saul could not understand why so many disciples were following Jesus Christ and so he persecuted those who wanted to follow Him. On the road to Damascus, Saul was struck blind and he heard the voice of Jesus ask, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts of the Apostles 9:4). After three days of being blind, Paul got up and gave his life to Christ. The story of St. Paul is an amazing transformation. However, God had to go to extremes to get his attention. Paul’s evangelization efforts led him to experience rejection, hardship, opposition, slander, shipwrecks, imprisonment and ultimately martyrdom. Throughout it all, Paul always preached with a spirit of encouragement. The environment and icebreaker break open the idea of how well traveled St. Paul was to spread the message of Jesus Christ.
