Responding to the Death of a Teen

I minister in a town of about 50,000 drawing on 3 different high schools. In the last 18 months, 8 high school teenagers have died unexpectedly from car accidents, illness, and suicide. In the midst of all of this tragedy, I have learned 4 important lessons about how we should respond to teen death within our communities.

Goal for the Life Night: This night is designed to be used if there is a tragedy in your parish or local community such as illness, car accident, suicide or death. In moments of crisis, teens need a safe place to process, grieve and pray. It is important that the Life Night following a community tragedy gives teens this opportunity. The main goal of the night is to allow the teens to express their questions and emotions while also placing the tragedy in the context of the cross of Christ. We
