What an exciting time for Catholic Youth Ministry! The reality is that teen culture continues to change. There are many new ideas and practices being developed to reach teens. Ever wonder why some ideas when first introduced aren’t received well by the rest of the Catholic youth ministry world? Here is an overview depicting acceptance of new Catholic youth ministry practices and the timeline it takes for the ideas or changes to be embraced, implemented,eventually rejected and then become legendary. The Acceptance Timeline of New Catholic Youth Ministry Practices

Not Realistic – 10 years ahead of its time
Not Comprehensive – 5 Years ahead of its time
Edgy – 1 year ahead of its time
Powerful – During its time (may last several years)
Adapted – 1 to 5 years after it’s time
Amusing – 10 years after its time
Old Fashioned – 20 years after its time
Legendary – 30 years after its time
