As a parish youth minister for 8 years, I anxiously awaited every 4 months for the new “Life Support” box of goodies to arrive in the mail. What would the new Life Nights look like? What new music could I listen to in my office or car? What fabulous new Life Teen toy would I get to play with? That box of resources was such a valuable tool that helped me to minister to the teens at my parish, but equally valuable was the support I received from the Life Teen’s national staff.
As I discerned moving from parish youth ministry to this new position as Director of Direct Contact for National Life Teen, one of the things on my heart was to support Youth Ministers. I know how hard the mission field of youth ministry can be, and I want you to know that if there is anything I can do to help you, please call me. 5. You Need Someone Who Will Listen
Being a Youth Minister is hard work. You’re not paid a lot of money (if any), teens tend to reject you more often than not, and parents don’t understand what you do. Sometimes, as a Youth Minister, you just need someone who will listen and understand. I would love to be that listening ear for you, so feel free to call my office to share your struggles and challenges in youth ministry and know that you will be heard.
4. You Want To Share Your Victories
Nothing brightens my day like someone else’s victories, especially in the mission field of youth ministry. So, if you have some exciting news to share about what’s going with your teens, ministry, or parish, give me a call. I would love to celebrate with you!
3. You Need Help Planning
Planning ahead is so vital to running a successful youth ministry, but with so much going on, it can be difficult to find the time.
