Goal for the Life Night:
The goal for this Life Night is to help the teens understand the history and development of the Catholic Church’s social teaching. This night will also help the teens rethink why each of us is called to be an advocate for Social Justice. Finally, this night will also reveal how prayer and relationship with God is foundational to our ability to treat others with dignity and respect.
Life Night at a Glance:
“Vita Nox” is “Life Night” in Latin. The social teaching of the Church can be a very intense and overwhelming topic filled with documents and encyclicals. This Life Night will help the teens understand that at the heart of all the social teaching is a relationship with God. This night begins with a competition and a mock in-depth look at a section of Rerum Novarum. The teaching for this night will focus on the foundations and background of the Church’s social teaching. The Break and Send will be combined and call the teens to examine how they are living the Great Commandments. They will have an opportunity to look at how they love God and in turn how they love those around them through two separate times of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
