I am on a plane right now on my way back home to Phoenix. I have been sitting here for the past 10 minutes trying come up with a topic to blog about. 10 minutes passed…and…nothing. I have to say this is a rare occasion. I always have something to say.
The only thing that kept running through my head is a quote I came across during Holy Week:
“We are an Easter people and our song is Hallelujah…” – John Paul II
Now I normally blog about Life Teen’s events and the planning process, but this week, I think I am going to blog about being the Easter people.
Who are the “Easter people”? Well, we are. But, is what is my song? I have been asking myself this question for the past 4 days. Is my song “hallelujah”? There are so many things in this world that can write the words of the songs that we sing. After some soul searching, I realized that so often my song sounds something like this:
- “Woe is me…”
- “I am afraid…”
- “There is no hope…”
- “I don’t trust you…”
Pretty depressing right?! But, it’s true. I find myself getting caught up in the wrong song. I find someone else writing the words of my song. I forget that no matter what the stressor or the strain in my life that I ALWAYS have a reason to hope – The Risen Christ!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard to sing a song of praise in the midst of trial and suffering, but if I don’t try and I don’t cling to hope, then what?! So what is your song?
Who is the songwriter? Christ tell us in Scripture, “if we cease to praise, the stones would cry out.” Let’s not leave it up to the stones!
Join me and dive into this Easter Season! Hallelujah!!!!!!
