Training and Topics
Fall 2011 – Spring 2012
Parent Life – November (Pam Zimmerman)
If you have ever asked yourself, “Self, how do I involve parents in my youth ministry program?” you should attend this exciting webinar on Parent Life. Parent Life is designed to give parents an opportunity to support their parish ministry programs while strengthening their own relationship with Christ and His Church. Pam Zimmerman will help you understand this ministry and the potential to reach your parents and lead them closer to Christ alongside their teens.
Sharing the Impact of What God is Doing in Your Ministry – November (Steve Allgeyer)
Support. We all need it, but we don’t know how to get it. Whether it is more Core members, more money or more parent support. Many youth ministers are great at reaching teenagers and ministering to them, but they have a difficult time transferring what they know about youth ministry to gain support for what they are doing. Sharing the impact of your ministry is simple and is the launching pad for more support, whether it is more time, more talent or more treasure. Steve Allgeyer, veteran of 16 years of youth ministry, will talk about how he transferred his passion for relational ministry from teenagers to adults to gain tremendous support.
Wanna Get Away?: Keys to Leading Retreats (LT and Edge) – November (Parish Outreach)
Permission forms, insurance paperwork, busses, meetings, contracts, cooks, nametags, schedules and oh yeah, teens. Are you stressed already? By the time you are done with your teen’s weekend retreat you need to be going on a weeklong retreat yourself, right? Let the Parish Outreach Team help simplify the retreat preparation process and allow you to actually enjoy it. We will walk you through the steps you need to take to be sure tasks are completed while helping you spiritually prepare for the retreat at hand. We’ll also answer the age-old question: should you take middle school youth on retreat?
Presenting to Teens (Core Webinar) – December (Parish Outreach)
In our first Core webinar we are excited to tackle the second most feared chore every Core Member must face: Public Speaking! Yes, we are talking about presenting to teens at a Life Night, Edge Night, retreat and/or other ministry events. We want to take the fear out of speaking in front of teens/youth and bring back the fun. Our Parish Outreach Staff will introduce ways to bring your Proclaim or personal witness to life and make your next microphone experience a positive one. This webinar is open to all adult Core Members – so youth ministers, sign up your Core!
How to Lead Bible Studies – January (Mark Hart)
Many Youth Ministers love the idea of offering a Bible Study for their teens but are not quite comfortable actually leading a study. How do you take the timeless Word of God and break it open in timely and relevant ways with this screen-based culture? Leading a scripture study does not have to be as difficult as we make it. If the idea of creating or leading a Bible Study fills you with anxiety, join Mark for this webinar where you will learn practical tools and be connected to effective resources that are sure to make even the novice Bible Study leader’s life easier. You know the challenges. You know the audience. You know the Lord. We have the Gospel. It’s time to connect the dots.
Details Matter: How to lead an Impactful XLT – February (Matt Smith)
XLT stands for Exalt. XLT is a dynamic Catholic praise and worship night that includes a talk with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. As with any prayer or worship service, much prayer, planning and details need to go into a night that brings teens face-to-face with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. This webinar will help you prayerfully plan out your first or next XLT night and make it one that the teens will remember forever.
Disciples Wanted: Teen Leadership Development – March/April (Parish Outreach)
Teen leadership development has always been a challenge in ministry. You want to continue to build up and enrich your teens spiritually and catechetically, but you also want to call them into a deeper understanding of their call to discipleship. Our Parish Outreach Team wants to help you develop a leadership approach that calls your teens into a deeper relationship with Christ as they tangibly realize what it means to “follow” Him.
Annual Review: Life Teen and Edge Ministry Evaluation – May (Parish Outreach)
You may dread your annual review with your pastor or boss, but an honest evaluation is an important tool for growth. In this Life Teen and Edge Ministry Evaluation webinar, we will look at all aspects of your ministry from the past year and help you vision forward for the coming year. The Parish Outreach Team will aid you in reviewing your youth Liturgy, Life and/or Edge nights, Core Team, Retreats and spiritual health. Take an hour and give yourself and your ministry a good hard look so that God has room to move in your ministry for years to come.
