I once worked with someone who had a T-shirt that said “We’ve always done it that way” with a big red mark slashed through it. A lot of times we fall into this rut…What did we do last year? Let just do that again.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of wisdom in looking at what we’ve done in the past and trying to learn from it, but how can our ministry ever evolve if we just recycle last years ideas? We must always strive to come up with new ideas and new ways to reach the people who have never been reached before. Maybe your music group hasn’t done any new music for a while. It may be time to re-evaluate your song selection or the way your community celebrates certain rites or solemnities.
Always remember when changing anything that communication is very important. Make sure that the people that are affected by theses changes know what’s going on and that there is a change taking place so that there is clear direction about what needs to be done. This will ensure that everything flows smoothly and the Assembly can experience a great celebration that flows and can bring about greater conversion of heart.
