Goal for the Life Night:
To help the teens recognize the Beatitudes as the foundational principles behind all moral teachings of the Church and how these Beatitudes ultimately fulfill our natural desire for happiness.
Life Night at a Glance:
In a culture that is obsessed with feeling good and being happy, we will stop at nothing to get rid of pain, make our lives comfortable, and avoid inconvenience of any kind. Teens make many moral decisions with these goals in mind, and they figure happiness lies right behind the next purchase, boyfriend/girlfriend, or magic pill. This night will take a deeper look at our natural desire to be happy and how Jesus gives us a path to true happiness in the Beatitudes. This night will start with a humorous skit with a teen obsessed with the mirror and looks seeking a “fairy tale” life. Within this skit the seven “Beatitude” dwarfs are introduced and give the teaching for the night. The teens will then have the chance to unpack the seemingly unusual road to happiness. The night will end by focusing on the promises attached to each of the Beatitudes and the ultimate goal of joy in Christ.
